Billabong Ante Up!

Billabong is proud to announce the Billabong Ante Up, a 5 Star Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour event, taking place June 26‐30th in the Camp of Champions terrain park at Whistler Blackcomb. The event will kick off the Swatch TTR World Snowboard tour for the ’10‐’11 season in North America, and will also be a qualifying event for the 6Star Billabong Innsbruck Air and Style event taking place Feb. 5th, 2011.

Billabong Ante Up will be a Big Air event, with the jump being built by Vancouver 2010 Olympic halfpipe builder Steve Petrie of Arena Snowparks. With $50,000 USD in prize money, and a batch of 5Star TTR points on the line, Billabong Ante Up will be drawing athletes from across the globe to compete in late June up on the Blackcomb Glacier. The event will feature 50 riders, with the top 10 Swatch TTR World Tour finalists from the 2009/2010 season receiving automatic invites. The remaining spots will be filled through a registration/selection process that will take place online at www.billabongpro.com. Registration is open May 3rd to May 24th, with a list of qualified riders available on the website May 31st, 2010.

Marko Grilc ist Herr des Rings

Die Rückkehr des Straight Jump an den legendären Bergisel ist geglückt. Beim Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/ II bejubelten 11.500 Zuschauer ihre Snowboardhelden. Auf dem perfekt funktionierenden Kicker, der die Quarterpipe der Vorjahre abgelöst hat, setzte sich im Finale der besten Vier Marko Grlic (Slowenien) mit einem Switch Backside 1080 Doulble Corked Mute Grab und 281 Punkten durch. Er war erst durch das Verletzungspech des Kanadiers Seb Toutant ins 16er-Starterfeld aufgerückt. Auf Rang zwei und drei landeten Peetu Piroiinen (21 Jahre/FIN/268 Pkt.) und Andreas Wiig (28/NOR/251 Pkt.). Der vierte Rang ging an Iouri Podladtchikov (21/SUI/54 Pkt.). Lokalmatador Werner Stock (22/AUT) aus dem Zillertal platzierte sich auf einem hervorragenden sechsten Platz, nur knapp vor dem deutschen Fahrer Elias Elhardt
(21/Oberstaufen). Der dreimalige Air & Style-Sieger Stefan Gimpl (30/AUT) aus Leogang und der Vorarlberger Gigi Rüf (28) hatten bereits in der ersten Runde in Peetu Piroiinen und Elias Elhardt ihre Meister gefunden. Ebenfalls in der ersten Runde blieb Mitfavorit Travis Rice gegen Andreas Wiig auf der Strecke. Bei den Rookies, dem Wettbewerb der zwölf herausragenden Nachwuchsfahrer, hatte der 18-jährige Seppe Smits aus Belgien die Nase vorn. Sein Lohn: ein Startplatz im Top 16-Feld beim Billlabong Air & Style 2010.

Marko Grilc is new Lord of the Ring

The comeback of the legendary Straight Jump format to the Bergisel Stadium was a full success. 11.500 fans witnessed their snowboard heroes at the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/ II. On the perfectly working kicker, that replaced the quarterpipe of last year, Marko Grilc (SLO) ruled the final of four with a Switch Backside 1080 Double Corked Mute Grab and 281 points. He only recently entered the starting the field of 16 riders after the Canadian Sebastien Toutant had to cancel because of an unfortunate injury. Peetu Piroiinen (21 years/FIN/268 Pts.) placed second and Andreas Wiig (28/NOR/251 Pts.) came in third. Swiss rider Iouri Podladtchikov (21/SUI/54 Pts.) finished in
fourth. Local rider Werner Stock (22/AUT) from the Zillertal finished the event successfully in sixth place, closely follwoed by Elias Elhardt from Germany (21/Oberstaufen). The three times winner of the Air & Style, Stefan Gimpl (30/AUT) from Leogang and the Austrian Gigi Rüf (28) were kicked out of the contest by Peetu Piroiinen and Elias Elhardt in the first round. In the Rookie competition that consisted of 12 riders, it was the 18 years old Seppe Smits from Belgium who went home with the win. His reward: a spot in next year’s starting field of 16 riders at the Billlabong Air & Style 2010.

Final results

Als erster 6Star Wettbewerb auf der Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour 2009/10 bot der Air & Style die erste Chance auf 1000 Weltranglistenpunkte für den Sieg. Marko Grilc (SLO) sicherte sich so nicht nur seinen ersten 6Star Sieg sondern eroberte auch die Weltranglistenführung auf der TTR Tour. Das gewohnt fachkundige Innsbrucker Publikum erlebte ein weiteres Mal einen Abend voller sportlicher Höchstleistungen, starker musikalischer Live-Acts von K.I.Z. und The Hives in der gewohnt faszinierenden Atmosphäre des Billabong Air & Style.

As the first 6Star Swatch TTR World snowboard Tour event of the season, the Billabong Air & Style gives out the first stack of 1000 TTR ranking points and as such causes significant changes on the world ranking list. Marko Grilc (SLO) not only won his first 6Star title but is
also new Swatch TTR Tour leader after today. Again, the Air & Style Innsbruck fascinated the crowds with its unique atmosphere, sportive
highlights and popular music live acts with K.I.Z. and The Hives.

Rider in Innsbruck

Nach langem warten ist es nun endlich soweit: Die Billabong Air & Style Riders List ist in Innsbruck angereist. Zum Auftakt gab es heute eine Warm Up Session im Stubai Zoo, wo der Billabong Air & Style Jump nachgebaut wurde, um den Ridern eine optimale Vorbereitung vor den offiziellen Trainingseinheiten im Bergisel Stadion zu bieten.

Werner Stock und Elias Elhardt zeigten sich beeindruckt vom guten Setup up und den perfekten Bedingungen. Neben der ein oder anderen Line im Powder konnte fast die gesamte Crew beim Kicker shredden gesichtet werden.

Rider in Innsbruck

After a long time of waiting it's finally on: The Billabong Air & Style riders list arrived at Innsbruck. To mark the start there was a warm up session at the Stuabi Zoo today, where the Billabong Air & Style jump was recreated to offer the riders the best preparation before the official training at the Bergisel Stadium.

Werner Stock and Elias Elhardt were quiet impressed by the cool set up and the perfect conditions. Beside some lines in the powder, nearly the whole crew was spotted when they were shredding the kicker.

Der Aufbau ist in vollem Gange

Der Bergisel macht sich bereit!
Das Setup nimmt Form an und das Aufbau-Team leistet ganze Arbeit. In atemberaubender Geschwindigkeit hat das Team um den Aufbau den Bau von Kicker & Co vorangetrieben. Es wurde ohne Unterbrechung gearbeitet und alle haben 100 % gegeben. So hat das Team das Unmögliche möglich gemacht. In nur sieben statt ursprünglich geplanten zehn Tagen hat es die Crew geschafft, das Setup komplett aufzubauen.

The Bergisel gets ready!
The setup takes shape and the assembly-team does a great job. With outstanding speed the whole team brings the construction of kicker & co forward. They worked without interruption and everybody gave 100 %. So the team made the impossible come true. In just seven instead of ten days the crew accomplished to build up the whole setup.

Fahrerfeld komplett!

Das Fahrerfeld des Billabong Air & Style ist vollständig. 16 Profis aus sieben Nationen bilden ein Riders-Line up der Extraklasse. So werden sich unter anderem Weltmeister Peetu Piiroinen und der Sieger des Straight Jump Contests 2006, Travis Rice, einen Wettkampf auf höchstem Niveau liefern und gemeinsam mit den Fans das Bergisel Stadion in einen Hexenkessel verwandeln. Aber auch alle anderen Fahrer aus den USA und Canada, Skandinavien, Deutschland und natürlich Österreich werden dafür sorgen, dass den Fans allein beim Zusehen das
Blut in den Adern gefriert, wenn sie durch die Luft fliegen und dabei auch noch die abgefahrensten Tricks zeigen.

Rider field complete!

The starting field of the Billabong Air & Style is complete. 16 pros from seven countries build a Riders-Line up at its best. Worldchampion Peetu Piiroinen and the winner of the straight jump contest in 2006, Travis Rice, will fight on the highest level. Together with the fans they will turn the Bergisel Stadium into a hot spot. But also all the other riders from the USA and Canada, Scandinavia, Germany and for sure Austria will make your blood run cold when they fly high in the air showing the most outstanding tricks at the same time.

After the Finn Antti Autti missed a place on the podium of the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol in 2008 and 2009 he will take part for the fourth time. The last season Antti finished with a nice 3rd place in the Swatch TTR-Ranking. He will fight hard for the Ring of Glory in Innsbruck, for sure.

Schwedensound von The Hives und Berliner Partysound von K.I.Z.

Geboten werden zwei musikalische Highlights. The Hives rocken als Headliner das Bergisel Stadion. Die Air & Style-Veteranen haben bereits 2007 in München eine Performance der Extraklasse abgegeben. Markenzeichen der Schwedenhappen: stets perfektes Outfit und fette Bühnenpower.
Unterstützung bekommen die Schweden aus Berlin. Denn K.I.Z. kommen mit ihrem Rap/Rock-Sound nach Innsbruck. K.I.Z. - das bedeutet provokante Texte gepaart mit schwarzem Humor und Ironie. Die vierköpfige Berliner Hip-Hop-Formation, die im Juli diesen Jahres ihr neues Album "Sexismus gegen Rechts" veröffentlicht hat, wird am 5. Dezember im Bergisel Stadion für Aufsehen sorgen.

Swedish sound from The Hives and Berlin party sound from K.I.Z.

You can expect two musical highlights. The Hives will rock the Bergisel Stadium as the headliner. In 2007 the Air & Style veterans delivered an outstanding performance in Munich. Trademark of the Swedens: always perfect outfits and a powerful appearance on stage.
The guys from Sweden will get support from Berlin. K.I.Z. will come to Innsbruck with their Rap/Rock sound. K.I.Z. - that means provoking lyrics paired with dark humor and irony. The four-headed Hip-Hop formation, who released their new album “Sexismus gegen Rechts” this year in July will cause a stir at the Bergisel Stadium on the 5th of December.

Das Starterfeld füllt sich

Am Start: Peetu Piiroinen (FIN/21) – Swatch TTR World Tour Champion 2009 und Zweitplatzierter des Billabong Air & Style 09/I. Konkurrenz bekommt der Finne von Torstein Horgmo (NOR/22), der auch bereits Air & Style Erfahrung gesammelt hat. In München 2007 belegte er beim Nokia Air & Style den dritten Platz. Ein Heimspiel wird der Contest für die beiden Österreicher Werner Stock (AUT/21) und Gigi Rüf (AUT/28). Beiden wird es an Fans in ihrem Heimatland mit Sicherheit nicht mangeln. Ebenfalls an den Start geht der US-Amerikaner Chas Guldemond (USA/22). "Bucking bronco", so sein Spitzname, konnte sich am Ende der Swatch TTR World Tour den zweiten Platz sicher. The starting field

The chance of a Big Air Contest at the legendary Bergisel Stadium attracts the stars of the snowboarding-scene. Peetu Piiroinen (FIN/21) – Swatch TTR World Tour Champion 2009 and 2nd placed of the Billabong Air & Style 09/I will be at the start. One of his competitors is Torstein Horgmo (NOR/22) who also gathered Air & Style experience before. In 2007 he made the 3rd place at the Nokia Air & Style in Munich. For the two guys from Austria Werner Stock (AUT/21) and Gigi Rüf (AUT/28) the contest will be a home match with lots of fans from their country. The US-American Chas Guldemond (USA/22) will be at the start as well. “Bucking bronco”, so his nickname, was able to seal the 2nd place at the end of the Swatch TTR World Tour 08/09. Back to the roots

Nach dem erfolgreichen Innsbruck-Comeback 2008 und der nicht weniger starken Fortsetzung Anfang 2009 kehrt der Welt berühmtestes Snowboard-Spektakel bereits Ende des Jahres 2009 wieder ins Bergisel Stadion zurück. Am 05.12.2009 kämpfen die 16 weltbesten Snowboarder beim Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/II – einem 6-Sterne Event der Swatch TTR World Tour – um den begehrten Ring of Glory. War es in den vergangenen beiden Jahren eine monströse Quarterpipe, mit der es die Fahrer zu tun bekamen, so ist es bei der dritten Neuauflage wieder ein Big Air Straight Jump über einen gewaltigen Kicker. Damit kehrt der Air & Style auch in Innsbruck zu seinen Wurzeln zurück. Diese Disziplin war in den 90er Jahren die traditionelle Disziplin im Bergisel Stadion und wird auch 2009 für Aufsehen sorgen. Du kannst dich auf gewagte Tricks in luftiger Höhe vor einer atemberaubenden Kulisse freuen.
 
Neben den Profis bekommt auch der Nachwuchs die Chance sein Können unter Beweis zu stellen. 12 junge Fahrer treten in der Rookey Challenge gegeneinander an. Bei den Pros werden 16 Top-Athleten erwartet und sicherlich kann auch dieses Mal der Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/II mit einem ausgezeichneten Fahrerfeld trumpfen. Zwischen den Wettkampfrunden gibt es wieder was auf die Ohren. Die Veranstaltung ist ein Garant für guten Sound und angesagte Bands. The Hives rocken im Dezember die Bühne im Bergisel Stadion. Die Schweden konnten bereits Air & Style-Erfahrung sammeln 2007 in München und wissen genau, wie sie der Menge einheizen müssen.

Back to the roots

After a successful comeback in Innsbruck in 2008 and a not hardly less impressive continuation beginning of 2009 the world’s most famous snowboard event will take place already end of 2009 in the Bergisel Stadium. On 05.12.09 the 16 best snowboarders fight at the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/II – a 6 star event of the swatch TTR World Tour – for the ring of glory. In the past years the riders had to handle a monstrous quarterpipe but in the third edition they are confronted with a Big Air Straight Jump over a giant kicker. With this change the Air & Style returns to it’s roots. The Straight Jump was the traditional discipline in the 90s in the Bergisel Stadium and will cause quite a commotion also in 2009. You can look forward for exciting tricks high in the air set in front of an breathtaking backdrop.

Besides the pros the youngsters get the chance to show their talent. 12 young riders compete against each other in the great popular Rookie Challenge. 16 pros are expected and for sure also this time the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 09/II will present a great field. Between the contests you get an earful…of music! The event guarantees great Live Acts. The Hives will rock the stage in December in the Bergisel Stadium. The Swedish band already gathered Air & Style experience in 2007 in Munich and they know exactly how to make the crowd go crazy.
